Police detain 65 in Ctg online scam raid

A total of 65 people had been detained from an eight-story building in the Khulshi area of Chattogram city by police as part of a raid on Thursday (September 10) night over suspicions of an online scam.
The raid took place in a building on Road 4 of Jalalabad Krishnochura Residential Area and continued to 11:30 PM.
According to Mohammad Abdur Rahim, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulshi Police Station, detainees were being pat down and investigation was operational.
“Some 65 people had been detained,” he said.
Among the detainees, citizens from China, Pakistan, and Laos were present. More people may be arrested depending on the process, he added.

The OC further commented, since it involved online activities, experts were present with the law enforcers at the spot to look into the matter from specific angles. The raid may last till Friday morning and then the details will be disclosed after checking, he added.
A total of 68 laptops and 65 mobile phones had been recovered from the raid.
