BCB positive about hosting series against Nepal

The Bangladesh Cricket Board is in talks with the Nepal Cricket Association over a possible bilateral series, with both sides hoping to find a suitable window in the packed Future Tours Programme.

BCB cricket operations in-charge Shahriar Nafees confirmed the development while speaking to reporters in Mirpur on Saturday.

“Nepal Cricket Board sent us a proposal some time ago expressing interest in playing a bilateral series against Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has taken the proposal very positively. Discussions are ongoing between the two boards,” he said.

Nafees said Bangladesh’s FTP is packed, but the BCB is trying to find a suitable time within the current cycle, which runs until 2027.

“If everything falls into place, hopefully the series can take place,” he said.

Asked when the series might be held, Nafees said the BCB intends to accommodate Nepal’s request within the current FTP cycle. He added that the board would announce its decision once the discussions reach a stage where it can confirm whether the series will go ahead.

Nafees also said he was unaware of any connection between the proposed series and Nepal’s recent devastating floods.

“I personally do not know about that. Since the sports minister has spoken about it, or there has been communication between the sports ministry and the Nepal government, it may have happened at a higher level. The flood issue did not come up in the communication we had,” he said.
