Road Transport and Railways State Minister Habibur Rashid has said no one involved in crime will be spared, even if they belong to his own political party.
He made the remarks as the chief guest at a meeting of the Gazipur District Law and Order Committee at the Bhawal Conference Room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Sunday.
Identifying drugs as a major cause of crime, Habibur said around 95 per cent of crimes in society were committed in connection with drugs.
He said drugs were also a major factor behind the deterioration of the law and order situation and called for greater efforts to eliminate them.
The meeting was chaired by Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Md Nurul Karim Bhuiyan.
Among others, Gazipur-5 MP and district BNP convener AKM Fazlul Haque Milon, Gazipur-3 MP and district BNP senior joint convener Dr SM Rafiqul Islam Bacchu, Gazipur-1 MP and mayor Mujibur Rahman, Gazipur-4 MP Salahuddin Auyubi, Gazipur City Corporation Administrator and Gazipur Metropolitan BNP convener Shawkat Hossain Sarker, Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Israel Howladar and Gazipur Superintendent of Police Jasim Uddin attended the meeting.
