THAKURGAON, Sept 14: Border Security Force (BSF) handed over the body of a Bangladeshi man nearly 40 hours after he was shot at the Thakurgaon border, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Asadul Haque, son of Abdul Wazed Ali of Indrail village in Pirganj upazila.
The body was handed over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) around 9pm on Sunday at the Danajpur border in the presence of police from Pirganj in Bangladesh and Raiganj in India. Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Moin, commanding officer of Dinajpur-42 BGB, confirmed the handover on Monday afternoon.
According to BGB and local residents, a BSF patrol team from the 63 Chakshibhananda camp opened fire near Main Pillar 333, leaving three Bangladeshis seriously injured.
