Lover severs girlfriend’s body to fit in suitcase

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has arrested three over the recovery of a woman’s decomposed body from a suitcase and a plastic sack in a roadside pond beside the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Gazipur’s Joydebpur.

A machete, cleaver, blade, mobile phone and shoes allegedly used in the killing were also recovered. 

Gazipur PBI’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Rakibul Akter disclosed the information at a press briefing at the PBI office on Monday.

The arrestees are Md Mission Islam, 22, of Saidpur Eastpara in Shibganj, Bogura; his mother Banu Akter, 43; and Md Mizanur Rahman Milton, 24, of Buraburi village in Gaibandha’s Gobindaganj. However, Mission and his mother lived in a rented house in the Bahadurpur Tulsibhita area of Gazipur city.

The deceased indentified as Dolly Akter, 30, who was the daughter of Badsha Mia of Pahar Pabijan village in Mymensingh’s Muktagachha. After separating from her husband, she worked at a factory in Gazipur’s Baniarchala and lived in a rented house in the area.

Police said Dolly’s dismembered body was recovered from a suitcase and a plastic sack in a canal beside the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway under Joydebpur Police Station on Friday afternoon. Her elder brother Sohel filed a case over the incident, following which the PBI began investigating.

PBI Inspector Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman Ansari said Mission, his mother Banu and Milton were arrested from separate locations with the help of information technology on Saturday.
