Milei calls UN a ‘useless organisation

Argentine President Javier Milei on Wednesday (September 23)called the United Nations a “useless organisation” during his address to the UN General Assembly in New York, accusing it of failing to uphold collective security, human rights and its own resolutions. 

Milei also criticised the UN over the Falkland Islands dispute with Britain, saying the organisation had failed to ensure compliance with its resolutions. He described the Malvinas as a “national cause” for Argentina and urged the UK to resume negotiations for a peaceful settlement. 

He said Argentina would not simply wait for the UN and the international community to fulfil their mandate and would take action over the disputed territory and its natural resources.
