None will be safe without unity between govt, opposition: Rizvi

BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has called for a minimum level of unity between the government and opposition parties in the national interest, warning that neither side will be safe without communication and cooperation.

He made the remarks at a memorial meeting at Jatiya Press Club on Thursday.

Rizvi said political parties may criticise or take jibes at each other on various issues, but maintaining communication and a basic level of unity is essential.

“Without communication and unity, no one will be safe.''

The Secretary General also alleged that 'Mir Jafars' were positioned around the country and claimed that instructions were being given from a neighbouring country by phone to plant bombs and send photographs of the incidents. 

He further alleged that those involved would subsequently be paid.

Rizvi said opposition parties have the right to carry out political programmes and stressed the need to ensure freedom of expression and the opportunity to hold peaceful programmes.
