Patwary should be grilled over crude bomb remarks: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner ((Crime Prevention-South) Md Tofayel Ahmed Mia has said National Citizen Party’s (NCP) chief organiser Nasiruddin Patwary should be questioned over recent bomb attacks in different parts of the country.

He made the remarks at a press briefing at the DMP Media Centre on Minto Road on Friday afternoon.

The briefing was arranged to provide details about the arrest of a man in South Keraniganj and the recovery of materials allegedly used to make cocktails, along with 9,000 paper masks.

Asked by a journalist about a recent statement by Patwary, the joint commissioner said, "Then he should be asked why he made that statement. I certainly think he should be questioned. Otherwise, why did he say this?"

Asked whether the police would question Patwary, Tofayel Ahmed said, "I cannot say that. Senior officials will be able to say."

Patwary recently said that there would be no more cocktail explosions in Dhaka if the government accepted 'three demands'. The remarks were made after an NCP procession protesting a rise in fuel prices on Monday night.

"We have been on the streets continuously with three demands. If these demands are accepted, there will be no more cocktails exploding in Dhaka," Patwary said, according to reports.
