GCC launches new automation software

GAZIPUR, Sept 26: City residents no longer need to make repeated trips to the City Corporation offices for holding tax and trade licence matters following the launch of new automation software designed to streamline revenue services.

The digital system allows citizens to apply, submit necessary information, pay fees, and receive services from home.

A soft launch of the software took place on Thursday in the conference room of the Gazipur City Corporation’s City Bhaban. City Corporation Administrator Md Shawkat Hossain Sarkar virtually inaugurated the system, while Chief Executive Officer Tanjila Khanum chaired the event.

The platform introduces online payments, digital receipts, and automated notifications. Officials expect the system to reduce processing time and minimise the need for in-person office visits.

“Gazipur City Corporation is moving toward a digital system with the aim of ensuring that citizens can easily access tax and trade license services from home,” Md Shawkat Hossain Sarkar said, adding that other citizen services will be integrated in phases. “This will save citizens time and money while reducing the hassle.”

Tanjila Khanum emphasised the role of modern technology in local governance.

“Accurate holding mapping, data-driven revenue management, and the use of modern technology are crucial for increasing revenue earnings,” Tanjila Khanum said, adding “There are plans to bring other civic services of the City Corporation under a similar digital management framework in the future, including the introduction of mobile applications as needed.”
