Pakistan submarine conducts missile strike in Arabian Sea

Pakistan Navy’s newly inducted PNS/M HANGOR submarine conducted its maiden live weapon firing in the North Arabian Sea on Sunday (September 27), successfully engaging a designated long-range target with an anti-ship cruise missile, according to ISPR.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf witnessed the firing and praised the submarine’s combat capabilities, while highlighting the importance of strengthening the Navy’s subsurface capabilities.

The successful firing marked the first live weapon test of the newly inducted Hangor-class submarine and demonstrated its operational readiness, ISPR said.

PNS/M HANGOR is the first of eight Hangor-class submarines being acquired by Pakistan from China as part of the Pakistan Navy’s fleet modernisation programme.
