India repatriates two Bangladeshi trafficking victims

Indian authorities handed over two Bangladeshi women who had been trafficked to India through the Benapole border on Monday evening.

The women, from Khulna and Mymensingh, said they were taken to Maharashtra through the Satkhira border by traffickers two years ago. They were later arrested while working at a beauty parlour and sentenced to two years in jail.

After serving their sentences, they were taken into the care of a private NGO named Mandua Girls Home. Following communication between the two countries, they returned to Bangladesh on Monday.

Benapole Immigration Police OC Saifur Rahman said immigration procedures were completed before the women were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station. NGO Justice and Care will take them into its custody and help reunite them with their families.
