Netanyahu orders ICC case against Erdogan

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered officials to prepare a potential International Criminal Court (ICC) case against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to Israeli broadcaster i24NEWS.

The proposed case would focus mainly on allegations concerning Erdogan’s treatment of Kurdish minorities in Turkey and alleged Turkish government support for Hamas. An Israeli inter-ministerial team and the director of the International Law Department have been instructed to prepare the legal material.

The move follows escalating legal and diplomatic tensions between Israel and Türkiye. Erdogan has reportedly sought an INTERPOL Red Notice against Netanyahu over a Turkish case related to Israeli military actions.

However, reports say the legal file may not ultimately be submitted to the ICC and could instead be used as a deterrent against further moves by Ankara. Neither Israel nor Türkiye is a party to the Rome Statute, creating potential jurisdictional complications.
