Four Chinese injured in furnace accident in Ctg

Four people, including a Chinese national, were injured after molten iron splashed out due to a furnace malfunction at Farmic Steel Ltd in the Mirsharai Economic Zone of Chattogram on Monday (September 28).

The accident occurred around 1:45 PM, leaving three Bangladeshi workers and Chinese national Zengling Hong injured. They were taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment.

The injured Bangladeshi workers were identified as Monir, Jewel and Saiful. Farmic Steel’s HR and Administration Officer Yubraj said reports of a boiler explosion were incorrect, adding that the incident resulted from a furnace malfunction.

Police said the exact cause of the accident had not yet been confirmed. The injured were receiving treatment at the hospital and were initially reported to be out of danger.
