Govt seeks inclusive constitutional amendment through talks: Home Minister

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said the government wants to bring an inclusive constitutional amendment after discussions with all sides.

Speaking after the fourth meeting of the special committee on constitutional amendment at Parliament on Tuesday, he urged all parties to join the committee and participate in discussions. 

He said the committee will consult social groups, families of those affected by enforced disappearances and killings, survivors, July uprising victims’ families, professionals and constitutional experts before preparing its report.

The meeting also discussed a bicameral parliament, judicial independence and decentralisation, as well as the caretaker government system. Salahuddin said the committee is seeking open proposals on how the caretaker government should be formed and structured.
