Construction continues on risky building despite fire service warning

Construction of a multi-storey building in Patiya, Chattogram, is reportedly continuing despite a Fire Service and Civil Defence warning that the structure is risky.

Locals alleged that the building, known locally as Monir Tower, has tilted towards the adjacent MS Tower, raising concerns over a possible accident.

The Fire Service inspected the building earlier this year, identified it as risky and placed a red flag on the site. Local resident Md Atikur Rahman has since filed a complaint with the Patiya UNO, seeking a halt to construction and necessary action.

Patiya Fire Service Station Officer Rajesh Barua confirmed the inspection and said the relevant authorities had been informed.

The building owner, Md Monir, denied the allegations, claiming the structure was not risky and that he was being targeted.

Patiya UNO Farhanur Rahman said the site would be inspected and necessary action taken.
