Dhaka-Tokyo dev co-op to grow further: Dr Moyeen

Bangladesh expects development cooperation with Japan to grow further as the two countries explore new areas of partnership, including water supply, waste management and sustainable development, Local Government Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan said.

He made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh SAIDA Shinichi at his office at the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the minister briefed the ambassador on the progress of various development projects under his ministry.

He also expressed gratitude to the government and people of Japan for their continued cooperation in Bangladesh’s development activities since the country’s independence.

Japan has been a long-standing and important partner in Bangladesh’s development journey, the minister said.

“Japan’s cooperation in various development activities since independence has made an important contribution to Bangladesh’s socio-economic development. I hope the relationship between the two countries will move forward further through mutual cooperation,” he said.

The meeting discussed various development projects implemented with Japan’s cooperation and participation, as well as water supply, waste management and different aspects of building a sustainable society.
