Youth and Sports State Minister Aminul Haque has said government support for helpless and distressed families in Dhaka-16 will continue.
He said standing by helpless people is not only the government’s responsibility but also that of financially capable members of society.
Haque made the remarks while distributing financial assistance cheques among helpless families from Dhaka-16 at his political office in Eastern Housing, Pallabi, on Friday morning.
He said the government was providing financial assistance to helpless and distressed people in different parts of the country. As part of the initiative, financial assistance cheques were distributed among several helpless families in Dhaka-16 on Friday. Similar assistance had also been provided at different times in the past.
“Please receive this assistance in an orderly manner. I hope this support for you will continue. I have always been by your side, I am still with you and I will remain so in the future,” he said.
Calling on financially capable people in society to stand by the helpless, the state minister said, “It is not only my responsibility to stand by these helpless people; it is the responsibility of all of us. This support will continue.”
He also said initiatives would be taken to provide necessary assistance to helpless people in the future in addition to Friday’s financial support.
Local BNP leaders and activists at different levels attended the cheque distribution programme.
