National Citizen Party (NCP) southern chief organiser Hasnat Abdullah has raised a series of allegations against Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, questioning the sources of the minister's wealth and calling for greater scrutiny of the financial records of ministers and their close relatives.
In a Facebook post on Friday (October 2) evening, Hasnat referred to Salahuddin's previous corruption convictions and questioned the increase in his wealth over the years.
He alleged that Salahuddin had accumulated significant assets despite his career as a government official, lawmaker and minister, and questioned the sources of funds reportedly spent on his children's education abroad.
Hasnat also questioned the government's decision to seek bank account information of individuals critical of it, saying similar scrutiny should be applied to MPs and ministers in the public interest.
He called for the bank accounts and financial records of ministers' close relatives to be examined regularly to ensure transparency and accountability.
The allegations were made by Hasnat in his Facebook post, and no response from Salahuddin Ahmed was cited in the report.
