A woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her stepson following a family dispute in Bholahat upazila of Chapainawabganj on Saturday (October 3) evening.

The deceased, Ayesha Begum, was the wife of Babul Hossain and lived in the Dharampur area under Jambaria Union.

Police and locals said Ayesha had an argument with her stepson Ashikur Rahman over a family dispute. At one point, Ashikur allegedly attacked her with a knife, leaving her critically injured.

Locals rescued her and took her to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctor declared her dead.

Bholahat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Bariq confirmed the incident, saying Ashikur fled the scene after the attack. Police have launched a drive to arrest him, while legal proceedings are underway.
