DMP arrests 447 in 24-hour drive

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 447 people and filed 58 cases during its regular drives across the capital in the past 24 hours.

DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Md Akter Hossain disclosed the information on Tuesday.

The arrests included 101 in Mirpur, 70 in Tejgaon, 67 in Motijheel, 56 in Wari, 47 each in Lalbagh and Uttara, 29 in Gulshan, 27 in Ramna and three by the Detective Branch.

Police also recovered two machetes, three knives, 51.5kg of cannabis, 1,000 yaba tablets, 51 packets of heroin, 19 bottles of phensedyl, Tk 16,200 in cash and two mobile phones.

Legal action against the detainees is underway.
