The International Crimes Tribunal-2 has ordered newspaper notices directing former Public Security Division joint secretary Dhananjay Kumar Das to surrender in a crimes against humanity case related to the July 2024 mass uprising.
The order was issued on Tuesday (October 6) by a single-member bench headed by Justice Noor Mohammad Shahriar Kabir.
Prosecutors told the tribunal that law enforcement agencies could not locate Dhananjay despite searching his permanent and temporary addresses. The tribunal therefore ordered notices to be published in two national newspapers, directing him to appear before it.
The tribunal set October 25 for the next hearing.
Former home secretary Jahangir Alam, another accused in the case, is currently in custody and was present at the tribunal.
The tribunal had taken cognizance of the formal charges against the two accused on August 27. The prosecution has accused them of involvement in killings during the July-August movement through incitement, abetment and conspiracy, allegedly under their superior responsibility.
