Measles symptoms claim 6 more lives, 1,393 new cases

Six more people have died from measles-like symptoms in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,393 new cases have been reported across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the newly reported cases, 1,291 involved patients with measles-like symptoms, while 102 were confirmed measles cases.

The figures were disclosed in a press release issued by the DGHS control room on Tuesday.

According to the DGHS, the total number of people reported with measles and measles-like symptoms has reached 199,013 since March 15. Of them, 21,910 were confirmed measles cases.

A total of 176,516 patients with measles-like symptoms have been admitted to hospitals during the period. Of them, 169,290 have recovered and been discharged.

With the six latest deaths, the number of deaths among patients with measles-like symptoms has risen to 1,032 since March 15.

Meanwhile, no death was reported among confirmed measles patients in the past 24 hours. However, 102 people with confirmed measles have died since March 15.
