Measles claim three more lives, death toll reaches 1,125

Three more people died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, raising the combined death toll from confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms to 1,125 since March 15.

Another 1,300 people developed measles symptoms during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services’ (DGHS) regular measles report released on Sunday.

Of the three deaths, two were reported in Dhaka Division and one in Rangpur Division.

Since March 15, a total of 1,125 people have died from confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms. Of them, 102 died from confirmed measles, while 1,023 died with measles symptoms.

Between March 15 and October 4, a total of 196,418 people developed measles symptoms across the country, while 21,748 cases of measles were confirmed.

During the same period, 174,149 people were admitted to hospitals with measles symptoms. So far, 166,908 of them have recovered and returned home.
