Six people died of dengue across the country in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 262 this year.
Another 2,089 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services’ (DGHS) daily dengue report released on Sunday.
Of the six deaths, two were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation, while three occurred in Khulna Division outside city corporation areas and one in Mymensingh Division outside city corporation areas.
Dhaka Division, excluding city corporation areas, recorded the highest number of hospitalisations, with 514 patients admitted in the past 24 hours.
The figures were 330 in Khulna Division, 324 in Chattogram Division, 224 in Rajshahi Division, 203 in Barishal Division, 196 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 106 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 99 in Mymensingh Division, 83 in Rangpur Division and 10 in Sylhet Division.
Since January 1, a total of 262 people have died of dengue in the country. Of them, 120 deaths were recorded in Dhaka Division, including the two city corporations.
The death toll was 51 in Khulna Division, 24 in Chattogram, 22 in Mymensingh, 20 in Barishal, 18 in Rajshahi, six in Rangpur and one in Sylhet.
