Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has described Shah Rukh Khan as an elder brother and credited the superstar with playing a significant role in supporting his acting career.
Speaking to BBC Asian Network, Abhishek recalled that his association with Shah Rukh dates back to before he entered the film industry. He said they would sometimes meet during cricket sessions at Uday Chopra’s house, where Abhishek played with Uday Chopra, Sikander Kher and Hrithik Roshan.
Abhishek said he has “immense love and respect” for Shah Rukh, who, according to him, has always treated him like a younger brother.
“He’s been so, so supportive of me and my craft and my career, and has literally taken, like, personal responsibility several times, including now in ‘King’ as well,” Abhishek said.
He also recalled seeking advice from Shah Rukh during their conversations about films and acting. When Abhishek once asked him which of his films was his favourite, Shah Rukh reportedly said it was the film he was working on at that time.
Explaining his reasoning, Shah Rukh told him that the film he was making had to be his favourite; otherwise, there was little point in making it. Abhishek said the advice stayed with him, adding that the film he is working on should always be the one he considers his favourite.
The two actors previously appeared together in *Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna* and *Happy New Year*. They are set to share the screen again in Siddharth Anand’s *King*, which is scheduled for release on December 24, 2026.
