Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed regret over the failure of months-long efforts to restore normal shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, criticising the weakening of international agreements and the enforcement of court rulings.
Speaking at the International Justice Summit in Istanbul, Erdogan said international agreements had lost their effectiveness and decisions issued by international courts were no longer being enforced.
He also criticised the existing international order, arguing that the United Nations system could not be considered legitimate and equitable if it failed to reflect the will of the international community.
Erdogan's remarks came amid continued concerns over disruption to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway vital to global energy supplies.
