The wage board formed to revise garment workers' minimum wages will begin work soon, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said.
He also urged workers to end their protests, return to work and avoid creating unrest on roads and highways.
The minister made the remarks after separate meetings with worker and factory owner representatives on Monday (November 2).
He said the prime minister had instructed the board to consider workers' living standards and give priority to their interests while protecting the industry's production and exports.
Salahuddin urged workers to raise their demands through discussions with the relevant authorities instead of blocking roads.
He also said the government would consider the legal release of workers and labour leaders detained during recent incidents.
Earlier, the minister met representatives of BGMEA and BKMEA, along with the labour minister, Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin and senior officials.
