‘Joy Bangla’ and four other coast guard ships renamed

The government has changed the names of five Bangladesh Coast Guard vessels previously named after the Four National Leaders and the slogan “Joy Bangla.” The Ministry of Home Affairs has sent an official letter to the Director General of the Coast Guard approving the new names.

The approval letter was sent on Thursday (November 5) by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Border-3 Branch.

In the letter, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Masfika Hossain, the ministry approved the proposed new names for the five vessels, replacing their existing names. The Bangladesh Coast Guard had earlier submitted a proposal seeking the name changes.

According to the ministry’s approval, the Coast Guard vessel BCGS Joy Bangla will now be renamed BCGS Adommo Bangla. Its pennant number is PC-208.
