
DAULATPUR, KUSHTIA, Jan 10: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) distributed blankets to cold-stricken, underprivileged people and educational materials to schoolchildren in the border areas of Daulatpur Upazila on Saturday.
The initiative took place from 11:00am to 12:00pm at the premises of Croft Nagar Government Primary School under the jurisdiction of Ashrayan BOP, led by the Kushtia Battalion. Lieutenant Colonel Rashed Kamal Roni, commander of the battalion, attended as the chief guest and handed over blankets to the needy and notebooks, pencils, and other educational materials to students.
Addressing the gathering, Lt Col Roni said, "Alongside the sacred duty of guarding the border, BGB is always engaged in humanitarian service. This initiative aims to ease the suffering of vulnerable people in the biting cold and encourage children in their studies. We hope to continue such welfare activities in the future."
The programme was attended by BGB's Assistant Director Zakirul Islam, Mahishkundi Company Commander Mizanur Rahman, other officials, local dignitaries, and members of print and electronic media.
Local residents expressed satisfaction and gratitude for the humanitarian assistance. Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) is known for ensuring border security, preventing drug trafficking and smuggling, and actively participating in social and humanitarian initiatives.
