Two killed in separate incidents at Bagha

BAGHA, RAJSHAHI, Feb 22: Two people have been killed in separate incidents of a road accident and electrocution in Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi. 

Both incidents occurred around 12:30 pm on Sunday. Among the deceased are an Upazila Sub-Assistant Water Resources Officer and a housewife.

According to sources, around 12:30 pm on Sunday, Upazila Sub-Assistant Water Resources Officer Abdur Rashid, 56, was travelling by motorcycle from his office to Chandipur for the treatment of a cow. When he reached in front of Sefa Medical Centre in Baniapara on the Bagha-Ishwardi Road, a microbus struck him from behind. He was thrown onto the road and sustained critical injuries. He was rescued and initially taken to the Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, the attending doctor, Dr. Sajia Khan, promptly referred him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. He died on the way to the hospital. Abdur Rashid was the son of Abdul Gani of Baniapara Village in Bagha municipality.

Regarding the incident, Upazila Water Resources Officer Dr. Aminul Islam stated that he had informed the office and was going for a cow's treatment at noon when the fatal accident occurred.

In a separate incident, Anuparbin Begum, 33, wife of Kausar Ali of Sarerhat Village in Gargari Union, was electrocuted. She was injured by an electric shock while trying to connect a switch for an auto-van at her home. She was rescued in an injured state and taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where she later died.

Officer-in-Charge of Bagha Police Station Serajul Haque said, "I am aware of both incidents. Investigations are being conducted, and necessary action will be taken accordingly."
