
BAGHA, Feb 25: Newly elected MP of Rajshahi-6 (Bagha-Charghat), Abu Said Chand, has announced plans to establish small factories in Bagha and Charghat to promote economic activity and local development.
Speaking as the chief guest at a foundation-laying and reception ceremony at Tepukuria High School in Bajubagha Union on Wednesday morning, he said, "Setting up these factories will help the area become economically active and foster development. No illegal activities, including drugs, mobile hacking, extortion, or other crimes, will be tolerated. Whoever is involved, regardless of position, will be brought under the law."
He further instructed authorities to begin immediate action against mobile hackers and illicit operators in the Tepukuria Arpara area. "Every project must be implemented with full transparency. Even if my own family members are involved in wrongdoing, they will not be spared," he added. Addressing local party workers, he urged them to avoid the wrong path and follow Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's instructions, emphasizing zero tolerance for illegal activities.
The foundation stone of a new academy building, costing Tk 1.38 crore, was laid at the event.
The ceremony was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer and school management committee president Shammi Akter, with Bagubagha Union BNP President Adv. Firoz Ahmed Ranju serving as master of ceremonies.
Several local leaders and officials spoke at the programme, including Headmaster Ahsan Habib, Upazila BNP Convener Fakhrul Hasan Bablu, Bausa Union BNP President Rezaul Karim, district Chhatra Dal Convener SM Salauddin Ahmed Shamim, Upazila BNP Secretary Ashraf Ali Malin, and other senior party members and community representatives.
The event was attended by various political leaders, youth and student representatives, engineers, contractors, and prominent local figures who pledged support for development projects and local economic initiatives.
MP Abu Said Chand stressed that the new initiatives are aimed at creating employment, fostering entrepreneurship, and ensuring law and order while promoting overall growth in Bagha and Charghat.
