The Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Liton Chandra Dey and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Mahbubul Islam in Habiganj’s Bahubal upazila have been transferred.

According to a notification issued on March 1, UNO Liton Chandra Dey has been transferred to Sylhet Divisional Commissioner’s Office. Senior Assistant Commissioner Umme Salma Rumaiya signed the notice.

On the same day, a separate gazette signed by Md Tanvir Hasan Ruman, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, appointed AC (Land) Md Mahbubul Islam as private secretary to the Minister for Labour and Employment, with instructions for immediate implementation.

This development comes amid prolonged vacancies in several key administrative positions, prompting apprehension among officials and local stakeholders about the continuity and efficiency of public services.

Despite the transfer order, UNO Liton Chandra Dey continued to perform his official duties in Bahubal on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Md Mahbubul Islam has joined his new posting, according to sources at the upazila land office.

Commenting on the transfer, UNO Liton Chandra Dey said it was part of routine administrative procedures.

Following his transfer, Md Mahbubul Islam shared an emotional post on his official Facebook account on March 2, reflecting on his tenure in Bahubal since joining on May 6 last year.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the local community and said the experiences and memories gained during his service would remain cherished.

However, locals raised their concerns over potential administrative disruption to regular administrative activities, as these posts are currently vacant.
