BAGHA, RAJSHAHI, Mar 6: Nazmul Haque, Assistant Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami's Rajshahi District branch, has said that journalists are often unable to report cases of irregularities and corruption due to safety risks associated with their profession.
He noted that not all reports about irregularities in the recently concluded elections appeared in newspapers.
Speaking at an Iftar and Dua Mahfil held on Wednesday in a classroom of Hazrat Abdul Hamid Danishmand (R.) Kamil Madrasa in Bagha, he expressed hope that in the future, journalists would continue to present objective and factual news in the greater interest of the country.
The programme was presided over by Bagha Upazila Jamaat Amir Abdul Allah Al Mamun, while special guests included former Upazila Jamaat Amir and former Upazila Parishad Chairman Maulana Zinnat Ali.
The event was conducted by Upazila Jamaat Secretary Teacher Yunus Ali and attended by several leaders, including Upazila Jamaat Naib Amir Assistant Professor Saiful Islam, Bagha Poura Jamaat Amir Assistant Professor Sabdar Hossain, Upazila Jamaat Propaganda and Media Secretary Engineer Rezaul Karim, and Convener of Bagha Press Club Abdul Latif Minya.
Journalists from national and local daily newspapers as well as online news portals were present at the Iftar and Dua Mahfil.
