International Women’s Day 2026 was observed in Dhaka’s Dohar upazila on Sunday morning with due dignity and various programs under the theme “Today’s steps, securing justice for women and girls in the future.”
Marking the day, a discussion meeting was held at the Dohar Upazila Parishad conference room.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Tasfik Sigbat Ullah attended the event as the chief guest and the event was chaired by Upazila Women Affairs Officer Sabrina Lucky.
Speakers highlighted the importance of ensuring women’s rights, empowerment and greater participation of women at all levels of society.
They stressed that education, awareness and equal opportunities are essential to achieving sustainable development and ensuring the advancement of women.
Speakers also underscored the significance of International Women’s Day and called for collective efforts to ensure respect, safety and equal rights for women and girls across society.
Dohar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Abu Bakar Siddik, Upazila Rural Development Officer Md Abdus Sattar, URC Instructor Shamima and Information Service Officer Shakila Jahan were present as the special guest.
Officials from various government departments and local dignitaries were also present at the program.
