International Women’s Day observed in Dinajpur

International Women’s Day 2026 was observed in Dinajpur’s Biral upazila on Sunday with rallies and a discussion meeting under the theme “Today’s steps, tomorrow’s justice: ensuring rights and protection for women and girls”.

The programme was organised by Biral upazila administration and Upazila Women Affairs Office with support from World Vision Biral AP, JSKS, Society for Uddyog, Community Development Association (CDA), Pollishree and BRAC.

A rally was brought out, followed by a discussion meeting held at the Biral Upazila Parishad auditorium.

Member of Parliament (MP) from Dinajpur-2 (Biral-Bochaganj) constituency, Alhaj Sadik Riaz Chowdhury Pinak, addressed the programme as the chief guest.

The meeting was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jimran Mohammad Sayek and moderated by Shahannaz Munira Chowdhury, recitation instructor of the Kishore-Kishori Club.

Among others, Upazila Agriculture Officer Rumman Akter, Upazila Accounts Officer Samiun Basira and Upazila Poverty Alleviation Officer Mahfuza Begum spoke at the event where Upazila Women's Affairs Officer Runa Parvin delivered the welcome address.

A memorandum was submitted at the end of the discussion meeting highlighting issues related to women’s rights and empowerment.
