Classes, exams at all medical colleges suspended

The authority has ordered the suspension of all classes and examinations at government and private medical colleges nationwide starting Tuesday, as part of broader energy-saving measures triggered by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Health Ministry on Monday.

Professor Dr Nazmul Hossain, Director General of the Directorate General of Medical Education, confirmed that all academic activities at medical colleges have been temporarily halted. 

He said the suspended classes and examinations will resume after the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

Mahmudul Hasan, Public Relations Officer of the Health Ministry, said an official notice has already been issued.

The suspension comes a day after the Education Ministry announced a similar decision to halt academic activities at all public and private universities across the country for the same reason.

In its earlier directive, the Education Ministry emphasized the need for responsible and energy-efficient practices among university officials and staff to help the country cope with the ongoing global crisis.
