The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has opened a control room to ensure the welfare and safety of Bangladeshi expatriate workers amid the ongoing war situation in the Middle East.
According to an office order issued on Monday, the control room will operate daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM between March 10 and March 16, an official handout said.
Officials and employees will perform duties in three shifts. The control room has been set up at Expatriate Call Center on the seventh floor of the Expatriate Welfare Bhaban in Dhaka's Eskaton.
Considering the current situation in the Middle East, Bangladeshi migrant workers have been advised to contact the ministry’s hotline at +8809610102030 for assistance whenever necessary.
The order stated that Barrister Md Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan, Director General of Wage Earners Welfare Board, will supervise the overall management of the control room.
Meanwhile, Md Hedayetul Islam Mandal, Deputy Secretary of Employment-1 Branch of the ministry, will act as the focal point officer.
Officials assigned to the control room will also maintain communication with the labour welfare wings of Bangladesh missions abroad whenever needed in response to developments in the Middle East.
