A training campaign, including an awareness rally and cleanliness drive, were held in Lalmohan upazila of Bhola district on Saturday to prevent the spread of dengue.
The program was organised by Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex under the theme “Keep your surroundings clean, prevent mosquito breeding.”
The rally, led by Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Md Abu Mahmud Talha Sadi, started from the health complex premises in the morning and paraded through different roads of the upazila before ending at the same venue.
Following the rally, a cleanliness drive was conducted within the health complex premises, where stagnant water was removed and awareness was raised about maintaining proper sanitation.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Talha Sadi said the risk of dengue may increase in the coming days, stressing the need for public awareness from now on.
“Dengue is a viral fever transmitted by the Aedes mosquito, which usually bites during the day, particularly in the morning and evening. To prevent dengue, it is essential to keep houses and surroundings clean and ensure that water does not accumulate in containers, bottles, coconut shells or other objects for more than five days,” he said.
Dr Md Shahadat Hossain, Dr Md Abdullah Al-Mamun, Dr Md Hasibur Rahman and Dr Md Yusuf Hossain, along with nurses, midwives, officials and staff of the health complex, participated in the event.
