Man held with firearms in Rajbari

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested a man along with firearms from Goalanda upazila in Rajbari district on Saturday.

The arrested was identified as Md Nur Mohammad, 52, son of late Anwar Bepari, a resident of Bangla Bazar village under Daulatpur Police Station in Kushtia district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of DB officials conducted a drive around 3:00 PM on the Rajbari–Dhaka highway in front of Bangladesh Hatchery in Uttar Daulatdia area of Goalanda upazila.

During the drive, police searched the suspect and recovered one foreign-made pistol, two magazines and four rounds of bullets from his possession.

Confirming the matter in a press note, District DB Police officer-in-charge (OC) Md Mofizul Islam said the accused was detained following the recovery of the illegal firearms.

He added that a regular case is being filed against the accused with Goaland Ghat Police Station under the relevant laws.
