Fire in Barishal Opsonin Pharma factory under control

A fire broke out at Global Capsule factory of Opsonin Pharmaceuticals in the Rupatali area of Barishal district on Monday afternoon.

According to officials, the fire started around 4:30 PM in a section of the factory premises.

The fire is believed to have originated from wood logs kept for use in the factory’s boiler, which is highly combustible.

“Because the stored logs are flammable, the fire spread rapidly. However, our personnel managed to bring the situation under control,” he said.

Being informed, five firefighting units from Barishal Fire Service rushed to the spot and worked for about two and a half hours to contain the flames. However, no casualties have been reported so far.

Fire Service Station Officer Rabiul Islam said that an investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the incident and to assess the extent of damage.
