Due to ongoing conflict in the Middle East and related security risks, a total of 22 flights from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport have been canceled on Thursday (March 26).
Several countries; including Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan, temporarily closed their airspace from February 28, directly affecting flights to and from Dhaka.
Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) reported that since February 28, a total of 775 flights have been canceled due to airspace restrictions caused by the conflict.
Daily cancellations have varied, with 23 flights canceled on February 28, 40 on March 1, 46 on March 2 and continuing intermittently through March 25.
Thursday’s canceled flights include four to Kuwait, six by Air Arabia to Sharjah in the UAE, two by Gulf Air to Bahrain, four by Qatar Airways, two by Emirates Airlines to the UAE and four by Jazeera Airways to Kuwait.
Passengers planning travel to these destinations are advised to check with their airlines for updates, as the suspension of flights may continue depending on developments in the region.
