Former MP’s son Russell granted four hour parole to attend mother’s funeral

Golam Hasnain Russell, former chairman of Bhangura Upazila Parishad and former mayor of Bhangura Municipality, has been granted four-hour parole to attend the funeral prayer of his mother, Nurjahan Rekha, who died on Thursday.

Russell, the elder son of former Pabna-3 (Chatmohar, Bhangura and Faridpur) Awami League MP Mokbul Hossain, is an accused in an explosive-related case.

According to court sources, Russell’s family applied for his temporary release so that he could attend his mother’s funeral. The court granted him parole from 8:00am to 12:00pm on Friday (Aug 14).

Nurjahan Rekha died at 9:55am on Thursday while undergoing treatment at BIRDEM Hospital in Dhaka.
