Elderly man dies after being hit by train in Tangail

TANGAIL, Mar 25: An elderly man named Mubarak, 70, has died after being struck by a train in the Udyampur Barni Jugirgopa area of Gopalpur Upazila in Tangail. He was a resident of Raj Golabari Village in Jhawail Union under Gopalpur Upazila.

Witnesses said that Mubarak died on the spot when the Jamalpur Express train, which had left Dhaka, reached the scene on Tuesday afternoon.

Upon receiving the news, police recovered the body.

Family members said, he may have committed suicide by jumping under the train due to a family dispute. He had been suffering from various family problems for some time.

Muhammad Anwar Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gopalpur Police Station, said the incident was very tragic. He added that the body would be handed over to relatives after legal procedures.
