CHATMOHAR, PABNA, Mar 30: Police in Chatmohar Upazila seized around 2,500 litres of diesel and petrol on Sunday evening and detained two persons in connection with the incident.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a Nasimon and a Korimon vehicle at Ramchandrapur intersection in Gunai Gachha union and recovered 12 barrels of fuel. The detainees were identified as pesticide and fuel trader Mukul Hossain and Nasimon driver Shamsul.
Chatmohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Golam Sarwar Hossain said during interrogation, the detainees claimed the fuel belonged to Liton, son of Mokbul Hossain of Jardis Mor area, and Mukul, son of Afzal Hossain of Chinabhatkur Village. They allegedly purchased the fuel from Baghabari but failed to produce valid documents.
Local traders also raised questions about the quality of the seized fuel.
Upon being informed, Chatmohar Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Musa Naser Chowdhury visited the spot. He ordered the seized fuel to be sold in the open market at Mathurapur.
Police said legal action is underway against those involved.
