National Sports Council (NSC) has officially dissolved Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) led by Aminul Islam Bulbul, citing widespread irregularities in the most recent board election.
In its place, an 11-member ad hoc committee will be formed under Tamim Iqbal to manage the board’s affairs and organize fresh elections within 90 days.
The decision follows the findings of a probe committee, which identified significant flaws in the electoral process and recommended reforms to ensure transparency and fairness in future BCB elections.
According to NSC officials, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has already been informed about both the investigation findings and the plan to install an interim committee.
Authorities are now awaiting the ICC’s response.
“The investigation revealed massive irregularities in the previous election, prompting us to dissolve the board and appoint an ad hoc committee,” an NSC official said. “This committee will oversee operations and conduct a new election within the stipulated 90-day timeframe.”
Earlier, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque indicated that any government action would follow consultations with ICC regarding the probe report.
