Stringent security arrangements have been taken at Ramna Batamul in the capital ahead of Pahela Baishakh celebrations, recalling the tragic bomb attack at the venue over two decades ago.
Law enforcement agencies have taken maximum precautions to ensure public safety. As part of that, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) helicopters have been kept on standby. Additionally, surveillance has been intensified through coordinated foot patrols and mobile monitoring by uniformed personnel.
Officials stated that although there is no specific intelligence indicating a planned attack, no lapses in security will be tolerated.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, RAB and police have issued a set of guidelines and restrictions for attendees to follow during the celebrations.
Extensive CCTV coverage has been installed across the venue to maintain constant surveillance. The event area has been secured with bamboo barricades, while watchtowers operated by RAB have been set up at key points for enhanced monitoring.

A control room has also been established on-site, along with medical facilities to provide immediate assistance in case of any health emergencies.
Meanwhile, people across Bangladesh are observing Chaitra Sankranti on Monday, which marks the last day of the Bengali calendar year.
This day represents farewell and renewal, as people say goodbye to the old year’s tiredness, suffering, and negativity, and stand at the doorway of a new year with hope.
