Couple killed in Khulna road mishap

A couple riding a motorcycle were killed after being crashed by a bus at Daulatpur upazila of Khulna district on Tuesday night

The incident occurred at Railgate area under Daulatpur Police Station jurisdiction. 

The deceased were identified as Tanvir Hasan Sheikh, 31, son of Mohiuddin Sheikh from Bhadgati area of Batiaghata upazila and his wife, Lamia Begum, 28.

According to police and local sources, a Royal Paribahan bus collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. Both the motorcyclist and his wife died on the spot.

Later locals rescued the victims and rushed them to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctor declared them dead.

Daulatpur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Shafiqul Islam confirmed the matter and said that although the bus was seized from the spot, the driver fled immediately after the accident. 

Legal action is being taken in the incident, added the OC.
