If we want a society free from discrimination, the issue of justice is so important because  we can't get a good life without it. It protects people from various forms of societal discrimination. Justice is sometimes equated to fairness by many of the existing societal norms.  Justice is so central to our society that every civil rights moment is a crucial movement for justice. One of the most important moral values in the fields of law and politics is justice. Justice, as well as fairness, moral righteousness, and equality, are all terms used in popular culture to describe receiving what one deserves.

It is tough to define justice because of its nature. Legal and political systems cannot maintain desirable law and order unless justice is also achieved. People can't imagine having a good life without it. It protects and ensures people from various forms of societal discrimination.

If we want to ensure justice in our country, it requires a multifaceted approach that addresses legal, social, political, and institutional factors. Here are some steps that can help strengthen justice in Bangladesh:

It is needed to strengthen legal system reform laws; ensure that laws are up to date, fair, and in line with international human rights standards. Reforms should address the needs of marginalized groups, such as ethnic minorities, women, and the poor.

There is need of ensuring access to justice. Legal assistance should be made available to all citizens, especially those from lower-income backgrounds. Providing legal aid services can help ensure that everyone, regardless of their financial status, has access to justice.

Judicial Independence is required. Protect the independence of the judiciary so that judges can make decisions based on law, not political influence. Political interference in the judiciary should be minimized.

Let us simplify legal processes. Reducing bureaucratic hurdles and delays in the legal system can help ensure quicker delivery of justice. A more efficient system will allow citizens to resolve disputes faster.

There is matter of law enforcement and accountability, strengthening police and investigations. Police reforms are needed to improve professionalism, reduce corruption, and ensure proper investigation procedures. This includes providing better training and resources to law enforcement.

Let us ensure accountability for misuse of power.  Establish clear mechanisms for holding law enforcement and public officials accountable for abuses of power or corruption. This includes proper oversight and investigation of complaints about police misconduct or human rights violations.

It can be done through establishing community policing. Build stronger relationships between the police and communities to foster trust and cooperation, ensuring that people feel comfortable reporting crimes without fear of retaliation or corruption. There is need to combat corruption.

There is need of strengthening anti-corruption institutions. Strengthen institutions like the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate and prosecute corrupt practices, especially those involving public officials or large-scale corruption.

There is requirement of transparency and accountability. Public and private sector transparency can prevent corruption. Implement measures like e-governance and open data platforms so that citizens can hold the government accountable.

There should be arrangement of whistleblower protection. Encourage citizens to report corruption by ensuring legal protections for whistleblowers.

Let us promote human rights education.  Provide education on human rights at all levels of society, including schools and workplaces, so that people know their rights and are empowered to defend them.

It is required to protect marginalized groups.  Ensure that justice mechanisms are in place to protect women, ethnic minorities, and other marginalized groups from discrimination and abuse.

It is needed to ensure education and public awareness campaigns. Increase public knowledge about legal rights and how to access justice. Many people, especially in rural areas, may not know where to turn for help when facing injustice.

Let us reform prisons and detention prison reforms. Overcrowding, torture, and abuse in prisons undermine justice. Reforms should focus on improving conditions for prisoners, including access to fair trials and the right to appeal.

We should remember that there is alternative to imprisonment. Promote restorative justice, rehabilitation programs, and alternatives to imprisonment for non-violent offenders to reduce the strain on the prison system.

It is crucial to create judicial reforms specialized courts. Consider the creation of specialized courts for cases related to corruption, terrorism, environmental justice, and other pressing issues. These courts can be better equipped to handle complex cases and ensure a faster resolution.

Judicial training is needed. Provide ongoing training for judges to ensure that they understand evolving legal standards and are equipped to deal with complex cases in a fair and impartial manner.

It is needed to encourage peace and reconciliation and promoting national dialogue. Establish platforms for open and inclusive national dialogue where citizens can voice their concerns and discuss solutions to social, political, and economic injustices.

There should be arrangement of conflict resolution.  Encourage mediation and peaceful resolution of conflicts, both at the community and national levels, to avoid the escalation of violence and social unrest.

Ensuring justice is an ongoing, long-term effort that requires commitment from all sectors of society, including the government, civil society, and the judiciary. By strengthening institutions, protecting human rights, and promoting accountability, Bangladesh can move closer to achieving a fair and just society for all.
