Fire destroys high school in Khagrachhari

A massive fire completely destroyed a private high school in the remote Kalabari area of Patachara union of Khagrachhari.

The blaze originated around 7:45 PM on Saturday and it later left the entire Kalabari High School into ashes.

According to the school’s Headmaster, Md Abdul Kader, the fire originated at the western end of the school building and spread quickly.

No one was present on the premises at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

Upon receiving the news, two units from the Ramgarh Fire Service rushed to the scene.

Bishwantara Bikash Barua, the station in-charge, stated that the building had been fully destroyed before their arrival.

Kazi Shamim, the Ramgarh Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and President of the school’s managing committee, confirmed the total loss.

"The fire service responded as quickly as possible, but the structure was unfortunately lost. We are launching a full investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire," he said.
