Stay order sought on Tamim-led BCB panel

A group of lawyers has filed a writ petition challenging the legality of the ad hoc committee formed by dissolving the elected board of directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and naming Tamim Iqbal its president.

The petition filed on Thursday also seeks a stay on the panel and a directive to declare it "illegal".
One of the petitioners, SC lawyer Golam Kibria who moved the HC, said the NSC's approval for the panel is "completely illegal" and a violation of the "Principle of Natural Justice". Amid a dramatic shift, an 11-strong ad hoc committee of the BCB was formed on Apr 7.

Kibria said, "The section of the NSC Act 2018 under which the committee was formed does not allow for the dissolution of an elected panel due to defective elections."    "bdnews24
